Bervie W.I. and guests tour Steve Eby farm

Agriculture and the family farm were the themes when members of the Bervie Women’s Institute, their spouses and guests, toured the farm of Steve Eby and family June 3rd at 7:30 p.m.

Steve gave a brief history of his beef operation and then the group enjoyed seeing his new 500-head beef barn. He emphasized the importance of animal health and care of his animals.

The group then held its meeting at the home of Stan and Islay Eby. After the usual openings, the roll call was answered by a farm memory. Our recent plant sale realized a nice profit.

Several ladies will assist with the summer schedule at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton by serving cookies and lemonade in the school house and log home. The museum will celebrate its 60th anniversary, Saturday, July 4, at 10 a.m.

Elsie Schular and Sandra MacDonald attended the District Annual in Wiarton and reported on highlights from it.

The next meeting will be at the hall in Bervie, Tuesday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. with Joyce Cotterall speaking about Kenya.
