RE: “Cottager disappointed at complaint voiced by local resident”
Holy Moly!
I think Barbara Best, a seasonal cottager who thinks it's okay to go to her cottage in Point Clark, is missing the point.
It doesn't matter if you feel well. You can still carry the virus from your area to ours. All of the federal, provincial and municipal governments are instructing us (that includes you - all of us) to stay at HOME.
Do not travel except to get groceries. That includes not travelling to your cottage. If you travel to your cottage, then why not travel to the United States or overseas? It's the SAME thing.
It really isn't a personal issue. It's not about being unwelcoming. And it isn't a “Who pays the taxes?” issue. It's a pandemic. STAY HOME - as the government has instructed us to do. It works only if everyone participates, and does their best.
Personally, my immune system is compromised. If I contract the virus, I likely won't survive it.
Too many people think: "I'm okay. I'm healthy. It won't happen to me." UNTIL IT DOES.
I always donated to the cancer society for "those people" who got cancer. Now, I'm one of "those people."
EVERYTHING changes when it's YOU who has it and it's no longer just something you read about. You don't want this virus. And you don't want to be responsible for the death of others.
Take care of yourself and others! We'll get through this.
Stay home and be patient.
