The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation held its Aladdin awards, Thursday, and two departments at the Kincardine hospital came out the winners.
Mirage Décor, in downtown Kincardine, generously donated the Aladdin's Lamp and set up a display in the hospital cafeteria for the event. The hospital auxiliary gift shop had a no-tax day sale along with a sales table.
The following departments won the draw:
OPERATING ROOM (OR) - Gel Pads for OR positioning – cost up to $1,000
The Operating Room's front-line staff has requested positioning pads and pillows. Intra-operative positioning in the OR is a safety issue and also a patient comfort issue. With a variety of gel positioning pillows and pads it makes the nurses' job simpler and more enjoyable to retrieve a suitably-sized positioning pad or pillow to stabilize the patients. Currently, staff has to fashion something using the current pillows, egg crate and flannel sheets. Having a variety of pillows and pads available for use ensures the patients will be more comfortable and the nurses happier, creating a win-win experience
KITCHEN - Catering Cart – cost up to $1,000
Will make work better for staff – better for back and legs as workers can pick up items and put them on the cart to prevent heavy lifting. The department is short one catering cart.
The Aladdin awards are a way for the hospital foundation to meet the needs of various hospital departments. The requested items, up to a cost of $1,000 each, will make health care workers' jobs easier and more efficient. Draws will be held in June and October each year.
