Kincardine Lions Splash Pad set to open June 27
The water features are installed and, once a bit more landscaping is complete, the Kincardine Lions Splash Pad should be up and running.
Located south of the Davidson Centre, the facility is slated to open this Saturday, June 27.
Workers with Open Space of Waterloo, were assembling the water pieces and installing them last week.
Supervisor Steve Elliott said if the weather co-operated, the splash pad should be complete, with just some landscaping left to do.
Standing in the mechanical building, Elliott said the Lions Club opted for an automatic, recirculating water system for the splash pad. This means if children are playing on the pad, the water comes on, but if nobody is there, it shuts off.
The water is circulated through an advanced UV (ultraviolet light) treatment system which makes it safe, environmentally-friendly and financially efficient, said Elliott. The southeast end of the splash pad is for toddlers and has gentler water features, while the northwest end is for older children and has some more challenging features.
The Lions Club spearheaded the splash pad project, with the Municipality of Kincardine and numerous sponsors and donors coming on board to help finance it.
