Resident impressed with emergency response in Point Clark
To the Editor:
Point Clark had a confirmed EF0 tornado roll through Friday night (

I commend the Township of Huron-Kinloss, the Ripley-Huron Fire Department, the local OPP units, Hydro One and the Point Clark community for their response.
Within minutes, the fire department was on the scene, taking control while in complete darkness and with weather conditions still less than ideal.
With many large trees crossing both Huron Road and Lake Range Drive, crews worked through the night and we were surprised to see by morning that both streets were cleared to allow the Hydro One crews to get to work. Hydro One was able to restore power quicker than we thought.
Huron-Kinloss mayor Mitch Twolan was on-scene all day and I was impressed by his response and support of both the residents and the local crews.
Fire chief Chris Cleave and chief building official Matt Farrell were also on-scene all day and were responsive to our concerns as we assessed the damage. I am sure there were others who deserve special mention as well.
Even though it was a relatively minor tornado, it is comforting to see first-hand that the leaders and their teams in our community are ready, willing and, most importantly, able to respond during an emergency.
