Officers arrived to find that a silver Honda Accord struck a black Acura RDX. The driver of the Accord was found to have been drinking alcohol. She refused to co-operate with police and became combative during the arrest.

Forty-five-year-old Lori CORNELL of Kincardine was charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, refuse breath sample, assault police and resist peace officer. She is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 10, to answer to the charges. There were no injuries reported.

MONITOR YOUR CHILD'S INTERNET USE

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce OPP is reminding parents to monitor their youth on-line after a complaint of inappropriate messaging involving an 11-year-old was made by a resident in the Municipality of Kincardine, June 21.

Parents are encouraged to supervise their youth in the virtual world just as they would in the real world. The following tips are being offered to help keep young people safer on-line:

  • Set rules about household Internet use

  • Always keep computers in high-traffic areas

  • Know your child’s user name/passwords and contacts

  • Realize that anything posted on-line is permanent

  • Protect your passwords and make them hard to guess

  • Be careful with webcams – your image can be captured

  • Don’t say anything on-line you wouldn’t say in real life

The internet is a powerful tool for researching a school project, connecting with friends or entertainment, but there are pitfalls. Be careful what you post or share with others; safe-surfing starts with you. If you’re not connected with your youth, who is?
