Kincardine is losing yet another doctor.
Gerry Glover, chief executive officer of the Kincardine Family Health Team and office manager of the Kincardine Community Medical Clinic, announced Wednesday (Sept. 2), that Dr. John Engle (at right, with his wife, Kathleen) is closing his medical practice, effective Nov. 26.
"Dr. Engle’s contributions have been appreciated by his colleagues for providing medical services to our community," states Glover, in a press release.
The clinic and health team are currently engaged in discussions with the physician recruiter, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and the Municipality of Kincardine, in an effort to ensure patients' ongoing medical needs are met, Glover said.
"A co-ordinated plan is under development," he said. "Once further information is available, affected patients and the public will be notified via press release. As well, once further information is confirmed, patients and the public will be able to access the latest developments through the information line. Please feel free to call 519-396-4300 at any time to access the latest updates in this regard.
"We apologize for any inconvenience as a result of the practice closures and seek your understanding as we transition through this process. To ensure consistent and timely flow of information, patients and the public are urged to contact the information line, established for this purpose, rather than contacting individual physician offices."
Engle came to Kincardine in July of 2010. His departure marks the fourth doctor that Kincardine has lost this year. Dr. Stephen Poirier and Dr. Rejean Duwyn left in July, and surgeon Dr. Michael Gora is set to leave in the fall.
